The Brief

Our brief for this site was to create a site that looked clean and was easily navigable. The client is an IT professional himself, and knew exactly what he wanted the site to do. Several design comps were submitted before he saw the sunset banner and decided to opt for it; he had in fact created a mock up site himself using a Microsoft program, so the basic site layout and page content were already available. One twist was that the site had to be dual language, as the owner promotes his properties in France and wanted a suitable vehicle for French speakers to be able to reserve and book property online as well.

The solution

The site was built using a fixed width layout centred in the browser window optimised for an 800 x 600 viewpport with a light and crisp appearance, easy navigation and simple language switching. As usual we provided a second text based navigation at the foot of the page, which helps search engine ranking. Pop up images were provided for all thumbnail sized pictures and the site is table free which also speeds up searching and loading speeds. The rounded corners of the main page soften the tabular appearance sometimes associated with this layout, but it is useful for containing a large amount of text.
